The follows massive, massive spoilers for the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime. Also some spoilers for the manga as well, but that kinda goes without saying.

When we last left off our hero, he had found himself talking about 2 dimensional villains and our protagonist briefly mentioned how the first anime adaptation of FMA was, in the area of antagonist development, was superior to the manga.

In this episode, I’ll elaborate on this, specifically on the symbolism represented in the seven homunculi.

One of the main villains for most series, she is what TV Tropes would call, Complete Monster. Why does she do what she does? Heck if anyone knows. Power, dominance, for the evulz, Medusa has no motivation or depth to her character, and neither does her sister Arachne. They both serve no purpose but to simply be there for an antagonist for the heroes. This becomes one of Soul Eater’s bigger faults as far as character development.
